|
Sire: The Grove New Legend Z28 (P) (ET) (AI) (APX)
Dam: Yamburgan Cloudy 507th (P) (AI) (APX)
In the photo above Cassius Clay is pictured at 9 months. Cassius Clay won the under 12 month bull class at the 2008 Brisbane Royal and was then used in the stud that year. He is an all red sire with tremendous muscling and depth like his sire but a softer bull. He is a moderate framed bull who is clicking well with our higher performing females. His progeny have moderate birth weights with excellent temperament. His maternal side has performed very well for IMF marbling.

Yamburgan Churchill C26 (H) (APX) |
|
Sire: The Grove Lockyer X857 (P) (APX)
Dam: Yamburgan Margaret 24th (P) (APX)
Churchill was Reserve Senior Champion Bull at the the 2009 Brisbane Royal Show (pictured). We believe Churchill to be one of the best muscled Lockyer sons we have bred. He has excellent depth of hind quarter, a trait we are striving to breed more of in the Shorthorn breed. Because of this he has tremendous weight for age and softness, without excessive frame. A lovely fronted bull which comes form his female line, some of our best genetics are coming form this Margaret 17th line. Another bull retained this year, Yamburgan Ossie D96 is from the same line. Churchill's dam, Yamburgan Margaret 24th, is pictured. At 24 months of age Churchill weighed 1040kg, had an EMA of 136 cm/sq, a scrotal size of 41 cm and had fats of 12/8 mm.

|
Sire: Yamburgan U174 (P) (COM) (APX)

Sambo 5th was an outstanding calf as a weaner and didn't disappoint as he got older. At 24 months he weighed 976 kg, EMA of 130 sq/cm, fat of 13/11 mm and a scrotal size of 43 cm. He is an extremely soft bull with a lot of muscle. He covers his cows well and always maintains his condition. His weaner calves are looking like he did as a youngster. Yamburgan Diamantina 20th (P) (APX) |
|
Sire: Weebollabolla Quilpie Q18 (P)
Dam: Yamburgan Jill 145th (P) (APX)
Diamantina 20th is an exceptionally potent sire with his calves easy to tell. They are very long, thick with good hindquarters and are very quiet. He is the best Quilpie son we have bred and he has an exceptionally smooth front, is quiet and packed with muscle. At 24 months of age he weighed 886 kg, had an EMA of 123 sq/cm, fat of 12/8 mm and a scrotal size of 41cm. We look forward to his daughters calving in a couple of years as his dam, Jill 145th, is a lovely feminine female with good udder and milking ability. A bull we think highly of. |

The Grove Oscar A748 (P) (ET) (AI) (APX) |
|
Sire: The Grove Lockyer X857 (P) (APX)
Dam: The Grove Dale 39th (P) (SFA)
Oscar was purchased at the 2007 The Grove bull sale for $55,000, for a half possession and marketing share, valuing the bull at $110,000. After the loss of his sire, The Grove Lockyer, two days prior to The Grove's sale, the decision to purchase Oscar was made. His sire is a bull that bred excellent quality cattle, no matter what cow he was joined to. Oscar's dam was the leading matron at The Grove for many years and produced 36 calves both naturally and by ET before her death at 16 years. At purchase he weighed 1010 kg, had an EMA of 141 sq/cm, fat of 12/7 mm and a scrotal size of 20 cm. We look forward to the arrival of his calves next year.

Sire: The Grove Informant
Dam: The Grove Millicent
Lockyer was purchased in half possession share with The Grove in 2004. He was Grand Champion Shorthorn Bull at the 2005 Brisbane Royal Show. This is the first draft of sale bulls to be presented and the draft is dominated by 22 sons that offer a consistently high rate of GeneSTAR marbling. Lockyer has bred both bulls and females of very high quality. He is a bull that has a tremendous hindquarter and width through the thurle and pins and passes this on to his progeny. He has a very high EMA EBV of +4.9 which is very evident when you look at his top line. He has bred very consistently producing cattle that are structurally sound, quiet and with high growth and this has meshed well with our low birth weight cows. He is a trait leader for gestation length, 400 and 600 day growth, scrotal size and carcass weight backing up our opinion of his weight for age.

The Grove New Legend Z058 (P) (ET) (AI) (APX) |
|
Sire: JR Legend 78H (IMP USA) (P) (APX)
Dam: The Grove Dale W699 (P)
New Legend was purchased for his structural soundness and muscling. He was one of the youngest bulls in The Grove's draft of bulls and weighed 785 kg at 20 months, with an EMA of 120 sq/cm, fat of 8/6 mm and a scrotal size of 39 cm, and we paid $18,000. He has grown into a moderate framed bull with a very quiet temperament, very good feet and legs, good length and muscle. His first drop of calves are stand outs. They have all the qualities of their sire with particularly good muscle expression. We have used him successfully over heifers and there were 58 calves in his first drop. |

Sire: Weebollabolla Quilpie
Dam: Weebollabolla Nindethana
Theodore has been used extensively as an AI sire and his real benefits are flowing through now in his females as a lot of sale bulls are out of his daughters. We are quite excited about the combination of Theodore and Lockyer. Theodore has very balanced figures being a trait leader for gestation length and birth weight and offers big EMA’s, carcass weight and high IMF. He is considered to be one of the best bulls used at Yamburgan.

Jafar is one of the best muscled young bulls we have bred, the combination of Aladdin and Ideal has clicked well with Jafar. Yamburgan Ossie D96 (P) (APX |
|
|
Sire: The Grove Oscar A748 (P) (ET) (AI) (APX)
Dam: Yamburgan Margaret 31st (P) (APX)
Pictured top is Yamburgan Ossie D96 at 20 months and below is Yamburgan Margaret 31st, Ossie's dam. Ossie is an extremely long bodied bull with excellent muscling and fill along the top line like his sire and grand sire. He is a very soft easy doing bull with excellent structure, good testicles and front end for a bull carrying this degree of muscling. A young sire with a big future here at Yamburgan, his dam is proving to be a top breeder from a very consistent line, highly fertile with an excellent udder and teats. She has just weaned a full brother who is very similar and she was flushed last year to Oscar with great results.
