2007 Eidsvold Santa Gertrudis Feature Show  Pictured - Warenda Sahara (P) pictured at 19 months with an EMA of 130 sq/cm. Photo taken by Kent Ward QCL. Manchee Agriculture showed 6 Santa bulls and 3 Shorthorn bulls at this years Eidsvold Show. There was a showing of 160 Santa Gertrudis cattle and including the interbreed judging, unhoused section and prime cattle there was a total of 500 head. Warenda Sahara was Junior Champion bull at 19 months of age, weighed 878 kg and had an EMA of 130 sq/cm. He is sired by Wilgaroon Jester (P) and was placed first ahead of two other Wilgaroon Jester (P) sons from Warenda. The trifecta was assessed by one of Australia's most accomplished judges, Mr Colin Hewett, saying the three bulls were very uniform in type, structurally correct and carry a lot of muscle. The bulls placing 2nd and 3rd respectfully were Warenda Sampsonite (P) and Warenda Sentry (P). The three bulls had an average age of 19 months, an average weight of 877 kg and an average EMA of 124 sq/cm. We exhibited an under 12 month bull by Yarrawonga Pheonix, Warenda Tomahawk, he placed second. Warenda Sceptre (P) was placed 4th in a very strong class. Mr Hewett was impressed with his correctness and length. Warenda Sherlock (P) won his 20-22 months class weighing a massive 1018 kg at 22 months of age with an EMA of 132 sq/cm. Back to the top |

Longreach Show 2007
Warenda Sahara (P) was awarded the Supreme Exhibit of the show and Yamburgan Lockyer 2nd was awarded Senior Champion Bos Taurus Bull. Mr David Connell from Rockhampton was the judge and there was a good showing of animals with over 70 head exhibited. |

EKKA 2006 - Brisbane
We will have strong team in Brisbane, consisting of a cow and calf unit, Wilgaroon Reba (P), a junior heifer, Warenda Sunshine (P) and 2 senior bulls, Warenda Romeo and Rolex. Both the bulls will be offered for sale in August. Rolex is by Waco Landlord (P) and Romeo is by Warenda Mahogany (P). We will also be showing the first son of Wilgaroon Jester (P) in the junior classes.

Worlds first 8 STAR Santa Gertrudis Bull

Leading up to the 2005 Bull Sale we decided to test a select number of our sale bulls as requested by a client. This testing identified an 8 star GeneSTAR bull, the worlds first Santa Gertrudis bull and one of only a few from all breeds. He was tested prior to the release of the T3, T4 and M3 markers.
Warenda Q54 is by Warenda Mexico (P) and out of Warenda L71, a Murrumbo Beaumon daughter. Meat tenderness and eating quality is an area we are continually concentrating on. Q54 is pictured at 21 months in preparation for sale on forage oats.

The Warenda - Wilgaroon Bull Sale was held on the 19th September 2005 and saw the work towards increasing muscle and meat quality pay off. The sale draft had an average age of 22.5 months with an average weight of 718 kg. The sale averaged $4027 for 37 bulls sold at auction.

Brisbane Show 2005
Brisbane show this year was as rewarding as it was last year as Warenda Pollyanna was awarded Grand Champion Female. Pollyanna is by Waco Knight (P) and has a very good bull calf at foot by Warenda Mahogany (P). Pollyanna was also awarded 3rd place in the interbreed female with 32 breeds represented. Mr Graham Acton commented on the bull calf at foot and her ability to remain feminine whilst carrying volume and spring of rib. Her bull calf at foot, Warenda Scooby Doo will be exhibited at Rockhampton Beef Week 2006.

Warenda Mexico (P) - Leading GeneSTAR
Warenda Mexico (P) (AI) (pictured left) is a 7 star GeneStar bull. He has 3 stars for marbling (from a possible 4 stars) and 4 stars for tenderness (from a possible 4 stars). More results for other sires are available in the sires section. Mexico hasn't yet been tested for the T3, T4 & M3 markers.
Mexico is currently leading the Santa Gertrudis breed as a sire for GeneSTAR, world wide. Latest results have shown an 8 Star Bull sired by Warenda Mexico (P) and was sold in the 2005 Warenda - Wilgaroon Bull Sale. He was purchased by Mr Ashley Adams, Blackall, for $5,000.

GOONDIWINDI FEATURE SHOW 2005
Wilgaroon Kit Kat (P) wins Junior Champion Heifer.
Warenda - Wilgaroon exhibited 7 head at the Goondiwindi Santa Gertrudis Feature Show and was awarded 7 placing's. There was a tremendous showing in the Santa Gertrudis ring with 130 head exhibited. The show team consisted of 4 head (2 bulls and 2 heifers) by Warenda Mexico (P) (AI). We also exhibited animals by Wilgaroon Teddy Bear (P) (AI) (ET), Fishington Uralla (P) and Waco Knight (P).
Wilgaroon Kit Kat (P) was placed 1st in her class of 12 heifers and went on to be JUNIOR CHAMPION HEIFER. The judge, Mr Andrew Chapman, 'Rowanlea Santa Gertrudis Stud' Calliope, Qld, said that "She is a heifer with good structure, femininity and a great spring of rib and volume".

NLIS Field Day held in conjunction with ELDERS
On Monday 2nd May 2005 Elders helped conduct a field day at 'Wallah' relating to everything NLIS. The day was well supported with over 50 people attending. Guest speaker was Andrew Prentice from Tru-Test who spoke about new weighing systems and data management. It was an informative day that made the implementation of the NLIS system seem easy. |
