Welcome to Warenda & Wave Hill Santa Gertrudis

Warenda have been breeding stud Santa Gertrudis for 20 years and commercial Santa’s and their crosses since 1965. This portion of the stud operation consists of both Warenda (stud no. 1293) and Wilgaroon (stud no. 1793). Wilgaroon was founded by Liz in 1994 and was a even mix of the Warenda and Wave Hill herds.

In 2007, Wave Hill (stud no. 902) Santa Gertrudis Stud joined forces with Warenda and now opperate under the one banner of Manchee Ag. Wave Hill was started in the early 1970's and has foundations steming back to the importation of Santas into Australia in the early 1950's.

The three herds are run in combination and is now managed by Liz & John Manchee with both Sylvia Kirkby and Phillip Kirkby having active rolls.

We strive to breed structurally correct cattle with length, muscle and maintain high fertility in our females. We are currently researching the eating quality of our herd by implementing the use of GeneSTAR DNA marker technology to identify traits such as meat tenderness and marbling. We won the LJ Hooker Beef Taste Test at the Brisbane Royal Agriculture Show in 2004 and were Runners Up in 2005 from a strong line up each year with all major breeds represented
