The 2011 Manchee Ag Yamburgan Bull Sale broke records for both the average and the top price recieved for the Shorhtorn herd. The overall average for the 72 bulls offered was $7228 with a top price of $28,000 for Lot 7, Yamburgan Everest (P) selling to John and Lyn Nitchke, Carlton Stud, South Australia. There was buyer support from NSW, QLD, Victoria and SA competing for a catalogue with an increase in number of 30%. “It was great to see 83% repeat clients again this year, we have had over 80% repeat buyers year in, year out for the last 18 years,” John said. |

Brisbane Show '11
2011 saw another successful show for the Yamburgan Stud at Brisbane Royal Show. We won Reserve Junior Champion Heifer with Yamburgan Jewel and Reserve Senior Champion Bull with Yamburgan Ossie E82.

RNA Trial Success
Manchee Ag was again successful in the Paddock to Palate Competition placing second overall by only .05%. Our steers performed very well across all facets of the competition.
The steers were placed 3rd in the daily weight gain section of this years trial with 2.47 kg/day. These steers were from our Durham Tropical program. We were also placed 5th overall (2.40 kg/day) with a pen of pure bred Yamburgan Shorthorn steers. Pictured above are Nick Manchee receiving the weight gain section of the trials ribbon from Mr Ken Crotty.
We were placed first in the MSA Meat Eating section which coupled with the DWG success emphasizes the direction we are taking.

This year at the NSW Beef Spectacular saw the introduction of
a Feedback Feedlot Trial. The trial included 43 teams (215 head)
from 34 vendors representing 13 breeds or crosses that were fed
on a 112 day feed regime.
Yamburgan Steers were the top performing Shorthorn steers with a return of over 300% profitability and placed 6th overall. We were awarded the Shorthorn Beef Sponsorship prize of $1500 for the highest performing Shorthorn steers in the trial. We thank Shorthorn Beef for this prize money.
Our steers were also the top performing team in Cargill's Excel branded beef. This is one of the premium brands of beef without an Angus content.
The leading steer in the Yamburgan team was sired by Yamburgan Diamantina Z20 (by Weebollabolla Quilpie). The steer had a DWG of 2.03 kg/day, perfect meat colour, fat depth and carcase weight. The other steers in the top performing team were sired by Narralda Aladdin, The Grove New Legend and Yamburgan Sambo.
The averages for the Yamburgan steers were very impressive, an average EMA of 80 sq/cm, and average DWG of 1.91 and a ViaScan Salable Meat Yield of 66%.
