Wallah Stock Horse Stud - Stud History

John and Liz Manchee run Wallah Australian Stock Horse stud and the Wallah prefix was first registered with the Australian Stock Horse Society in approximately 1969 by John's father, Lionel Manchee. The stud name was renewed by Liz in 1999. The foundation stallion and mares breeding can still be found in some of the station horses genetics to this day.

The stud was re-established with the help of Liz's father, Phillip Kirkby of the Kirkby's ASH Stud that led to the purchase of a well breed Throughbred mare, She's Clancy.

Another throughbred mare, Gay Illusion, was purchased at the Kirkby's ASH Stud sale held in May of 2002. She was pregnancy tested in foal to Warrenbri Omega (pictured bottom left). Omega needs no introduction as he has produced many open campdraft winners. He is the winner of the Warwick Gold Cup, the most prestigious campdraft title in Australia.

John and Liz run Wallah Australian Stock Horses and breeding is based on the 'Heritage' bloodlines of the Australian Stock Horse with the infusion of good quality Throughbred mares. The mares chosen to breed from must have extremely good temperaments, natural athleticism with good legs. The stallions used have included Warrenbri Omega & Romeo (pictured bottom right), Adios Reflect and Abbey. The Throughbred mares include bloodlines of Zoffany and Forest Glow.

An old stallion of note was Coup de Main (Reg no. 7687) (pictured below with Lionel Manchee). He was born in 1957 and was by Magistrate who was by Court Martial. Another sire that was used extensively was Little Abbey. Some of the station horses today were sired by him.

The children are riding with both John and I whilst mustering and this is a very important part of family life. The horses we are breeding must have a faultless temperament as all the hard work we put into our horses will eventually be reconised when our children ride them.
